The Taranaki Cycle Challenge has become one of New Zealand's premier road cycle events with over 1100, competitive and recreational cyclists enjoying the day. This event is always held on the Auckland/Bay of Plenty Anniversary weekend and is Taranaki's longest running Around The Mountain recreational cycling ride.
What an amazing day we had in New Plymouth January 2018. Superb, rather hot weather and lightning quick times were again the order of the day. "We have an amazing team who contributed to make the day a huge success - thank you everyone who helped " Thanks to all who entered". We look forward to seeing you all again in 2019
A huge thanks to BTW for developing an interactive map for our event. This was a big help to out of town support vehicle traffic in particular. atmcyclerace.btw.nz
E bikes are growing in popularity so we have added a new E bike category this year, 148 or 74 Kms. The other new Categories proved to be popular so we will have them again in 2019 - Solo 74km starting from Te Kiri 11.00am with an option of getting yourself to the start or catching a bus with your bike, cost $30.00. Solo 3 person team, the time of the last person finishing in your team will be your official team time.
11 hardy souls competed in the Solo 2 laps so we will keep this in the mix: Starts at 2.00am. We will provide a tail end Charlie, however you need to be self supporting for the first lap. 4 Mechanics & St John's on course, water, electrolyte, toilets at all relay changes on 2nd lap. On completing your 1st lap check in at the start area corner Rogan and Gover Street.
This is the first event in the Taranaki Super Challenge.

Marathon photos have taken some awesome shots on the day. These are available by clicking on the 2018 photos on the right hand coloumn.
We will be donating some of the proceeds of this event to support the ongoing work at the Velodrome & Cycle Park
We are pleased to continue our support of this worthy group.
A percentage from every entry is donated to the Taranaki Kids Sports Trust. This is a charitable fund set up by Selwyn & Gayle to help Taranaki kids realise their sporting dreams. Applications have to be endorsed by the principal of the school they attend. Over the years we have been able to help a number of children and teenagers and would like to thank you for making this possible.
